AllouAqui Dance Theatre have created a sensational piece with Milan’s Game, breaking conventional archetypes that are often seen on stage, the contemporary dance-theatre duo of Xavier De Santos and Delicia Sefiha have completely changed the game.

The production is danced to an eclectic soundtrack which ignites the story’s highs and lows, the static use of radio hopping provided tempo transformations which gave direction to the pacing of the piece, it had the right beats for the right moments and cleverly used the sound of silence to keep the intensity going.

The performance was playful and daring, this duo was outstanding, engaging the absurdities of romantic relationships and the stereotypical roles within them. It was a strangely honest portrayal of the complexities an individual is faced with when involved with a partner, that said, it wasn’t a heavy beating of sacrifice and sadness, it was a joyous comic display reflecting ordinary habits and making them extraordinary.

The cosmic rhythmic patterns were flawless. Each movement done had seamlessly connected each of the role plays that were explored. Dance-theatre has never been so thoroughly entertaining, Samuel De La Torre has directed a masterpiece of pure pleasure.
