SCENIC SHAKESPEARE
5TH JUNE 6pm
There could be no better setting for this first public outing of the 2nd year acting students who are starting to flex their theatrical muscles to prepare for the 3rd year busy schedule of performances.
The early part of the evening is packed with outdoor performances in the beautiful Italian Garden and the modern yet idyllically placed Amphitheatre outside the main house. Both settings provided a great atmosphere for us to witness edited highlights of the great Bard’s work. You can catch excerpts from Richard III, Othello, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Macbeth, Measure for Measure and finally Romeo and Juliet. I can truly say – something for everyone. As daylight fades we move into the university theatre for a more traditional theatre experience
The pieces I caught on this whistle stop tour were delivered with a youthful and honest energy and for any fan of the Bard this would be a great opportunity to hear his immortal words float out over the beautiful surrounds of Newton Park.
