We enter the stone vaulted cavern of Burdall’s Yard to the sound of swirling wind that evokes the isolation that our two protagonists are catapulted into. The wind subsides and we are bathed in a warm sunshine. The only thing on stage is a large stick, later we find out is called Ivan, through the silence a solo singing voice is heard off in the distance.

It transpires they are trapped on an island and we witness a glimpse of their time on what I sense is a warm tropical island. Things travel along at a sedate pace in keeping with predicament and the action is peppered with lovely touches of humour as we while away the time with the two of them and of course Ivan.

Then something happens and idyllic peace and harmony is shattered. You'll have to come and see what divided the duo!! I felt that this pivotal moment could have provided more of an explosive situation within this gentle tale and would have provided the light and shade I felt the story needed.

Think Lost meets Love Island – Taking in the View is an endearing snapshot of a struggle between two people thrown together and when the sudden blackout came at the end it made me think we could have been seeing ghostly apparitions of survivors rescued long ago.
